জীবনে হতাশ হওয়ার সুযোগ কতটুকু?

হঠাত করে জানতে পারলেন আপনার বাবার লিভার সিরোসিস হয়েছে। তিনি জীবন মৃত্যুর সন্দিক্ষণে। আপনি কি হতাশ হবেন? বলবো না । এর মধ্যেই শুনলেন আপনার এই ভারাক্রান্ত হৃদয়ের ভার বহনে অক্ষম হয়ে, অথবা এর ভবিষ্যৎ ভার বহনের ভয়ে, আপনার প্রিয়তমা আপনাকে ছেড়ে যাওয়ার নোটিশ দিয়ে দিয়েছে। আপনি হতাশ হয়ে পড়বেন? তারপরও বলবো না ।

এরপর পরই শুনলেন আপনি আপনার জব হারিয়েছেন। বস বলে দিয়েছে ‘কাল থেকে আর অফিসে এসো না’। আপনি কি হতাশায় ভেঙ্গে পড়বেন? তারপরও বলবো না, হতাশ হবেন না । ইতোমধ্যে খবর এলো আপনার প্রাণ প্রিয় মাতাও অসুস্থ। খুব জরুরি চিকিৎসা করা প্রয়োজন তাঁর। অথচ আপনার পকেটের শেষ টাকাটাও শেষ। আপনার পুঁজি বলতে যা ছিলো সেটাও সেই পারিবারিক খরচের খাতায় উঠে গেছে। প্রতিবেশি, বন্ধুরা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিয়েছে। আত্মীয় বলতে এমন কেউ নেই যে হাত বাড়িয়ে দিতে পারে। আপনি কি হতাশ হবেন?

আমি উত্তরে বলি, না। হতাশ হবেন না। কারণ আপনার সমস্যার যেমন শেষ নেই। সম্ভাবনারও শেষ নেই। এরপরও আশা থাকে। আমি ইশ্বরের কথা বলছিনে। বাহ্যিক বাৎচিত তাঁর সাথে প্রয়োজন হয় বলে মনে করি না। অন্তরের উপলব্ধি আমার কামনা। যেহেতু তিনি সর্বজ্ঞ।

ইশ্বরের মতন আছেন তাঁর অনেক প্রতিনিধি। আপনারও অজান্তে যারা আপনাকে প্রচণ্ড স্নেহজ্ঞান করেন। আছে কোন একজন ভালো মানুষ। আপনাকে অবাক করে দিয়ে হাত বাড়িয়ে দিবে তিনি। এগিয়ে আসবে আপনার একান্ত সাহায্যে।

তাই বলি, হোকনা জীবন কঠিন থেকে কঠিনতর। ভেঙ্গে পড়বেন না। জীবন চলে যাবে। জীবন চলে যায়—এটাই বড় সত্য। তাই, আর যাইহোক জীবনে হতাশ হওয়ার সুযোগ কম। নেই বললেই চলে।

What should the people of the world call Bill Clinton if Hillary Clinton wins November’s US president elections?

‘First gentleman’? Or ‘First lad’?

I think the Americans are about to fix the title as wife of Bill, Clinton, has already become much popular to be America’s first woman president. If it is Mr. Bill is just a few steps away to be crowned with iconic surname White house ‘gentleman.’

Should Clinton really wins the election it will juxtapose two great things for Americans. They will get a female present that will let to have two presidents in the White House at a time. Having two presidents in the house of the world superpower is not only a great thing for Americans but the world, too. You may call it super White House.

One has experiences of running country as a president and other is to see the world as 21^st century’s superpower. The juxtaposition of two things is great to have, always. There will be a great check and balance in thinking of the policy making. It’s not that Bill is her husband, but he has 10-year experience to run the complex US economy, bureaucracy and the intelligence units.

Now another question has been raised is what role Bill will play as a ‘first gentleman’.  Usually, first ladies confine themselves to reading and educational activities or gardening or some off-track jobs inside and outside the presidential palace. Will Bill do the same jobs? Or will he be playing some kind of policy making roles in some key areas?

আমাদের দেশের ডাক্তারদেরও কি চিকিৎসা প্রয়োজন?

 

গত কয়েক মাস ডাক্তারের কাছে দৌড়ে একটা অভিজ্ঞতা ও একটা উপলব্ধি হয়েছে। উপলব্ধি হল স্বয়ং ডাক্তারদের অসুস্থতা আর অভিজ্ঞতার নাম ভুগান্তি। এই অভিব্যক্তি সরকারি বেসরকারি স্বনামধন্য হাসপাতাল মিলিয়ে।

এই মহান পেশার প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা স্বীকার করেই বলছি—আমাদের দেশের ডাক্তারদের জন্য একটা চিকিৎসালয় জরুরি হয়ে পড়েছে। ডাক্তারদের এই অসুস্থতা একজন রোগির মতই তাদের নিজেদের ও পরিবারকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্থ করতে পারে। মহামারি আকার ধারণ করার আগে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া জরুরি। কারণ, সাপের চেয়ে গিরগিটির জিহ্বা লম্বা হলেও সাপই বেশি ভয়ংকার। বিগত কয়েকমাসে মনে হল, সবাই কোন না কোন ভাবে মানুসিকভাবে অসুস্থ। এই মানুসিক অসুস্থতা তাদের আধ্যাতিক চিকিৎসক বানিয়ে দিয়েছে। রোগীর নাম শুনেই তিনারা প্রেসক্রিপশন লেখেন। আমাদের দেশে আবার যেহেতু কেউ যতক্ষণ না কারো মাথায় লাঠি ভাঙ্গতে উদ্যত হচ্ছে। তাকে মানুসিক রোগী বলা বড় অন্যায়। তাই সেটা হয়তোবা ধোপে টিকবেনা। তবে ঘটনা সত্য। তাদের সঠিক চিকিৎসা হলে, প্রকৃত রোগীদের সঠিক চিকিৎসা হবে।

রোগী দেখার সময় এমন ভাবে কথা বলবে যে তাদের কথা বুঝতে রোগীরও ডাক্তারি পড়লে ভালো হত। তবে, সবাই এমন তা বলছিনে। কেউ কেউ এমন আচারণ করে যেন রোগী তার যন্ত্রণার কারণ। প্রতি বছর হাজার হাজার রোগী ভারতে চলে যাচ্ছে। তার অন্যতম কারণ হচ্ছে—সেবিকা ও ডাক্তারদের সুন্দর ব্যবহার। এটা শিখতে হবে।

এসব ছেড়ে, ডাক্তারদের কেউ অর্থের আবার কেউ মর্যাদার পেছনে ছুটছে। এদের কেউ কেউ ধান্দার পাগল। চাকুরির অবস্থান ও পদ বলে এই অসুস্থতা ভিন্ন ভিন্ন হয়। স্বনামধন্য যেসব বেসরকারি হাসপাতাল তাদের চিকিৎসকরা ঘন্টায় কত রোগী দেখা যায় সেটার জন্য উদগ্রীব। কত তাড়াতাড়ি কতজনকে বিদায় করা যায় সেটাই তাদের মুখ্য বিষয়। কারণ, একজনকে বিদায় করলেই, কমপক্ষে শ’পাচেক টাকা পকেটে তোলা যায়। আর সরকারি হাসপাতালে যারা আছেন, তাদের লক্ষ্য কত তাড়াতাড়ি রোগীদের বিদায় করা যায়। কারণ? শেষ হলেই তো ভাড়া খাটার সুযোগ তৈরি হবে। এক দৌড়ে অন্যকোন বেসরকারি হাসপাতালে যেয়ে উঠা যাবে। ত্রিশ টাকার রোগীর চেয়ে পাঁচশ টাকার রোগীর মুখ দর্শন কম সৌভাগ্যের নয়!

আর যিনি পদমর্যাদায় উচ্চ আসনে। তার তো কথায় নেই। ন্যানো সেকেন্ডেই রোগী দেখা শেষ করেন। কয়েক সেকেন্ডে রোগী দেখেন এমন একজন ডাক্তারের কথা বলছি। যিনি এখন ঢাকার এক সরকারি পোষ্ট-গ্র্যাজুয়েট চিকিতসালয়ের কর্ণধর। যিনি পেশার খাতিরে কর্ণ ধরেনও বটে। আমার এক বন্ধুকে তার কাছে নিয়ে গিয়েছিলাম। এই মহান আধ্যাতিক চিকিৎসক নেতা রোগীর নাম শুনেই ওষুধ লিখে দিয়েছিলেন। টিনের চালে কাক, আমি তো অবাক! এমন অনেক অবাক করা ঘটনা ঘটন পটীয়সী আমদের এখনকার মহান চিকিৎসকরা।

আরে তোদের টাকার প্রয়োজন এতো। যে টাকা দিয়ে পড়েছিস ওটা দিয়ে ব্যবসা করলিনা কেন? ধান্দা ভালো লাগে আমলা হলি না কেন? দেশের সম্পদ নষ্ট করে সেবক হতে গেলি কেন? এই পেশায় সেবা নামক যে ট্যাগ লাগানো হত, বোধ করি, সেটা না থাকলেই মানুষের উপকার হয়। মানুষ তাদের ঠাঙ্গানোর সুযোগ পেতো।

আমার বাবার চিকিৎসা করাচ্ছি একজনের কাছে। শুনেছি তিনি নাকি এই রোগীদের শেষ ভরসা। তিনিও সেমি-আধ্যাতিক ডাক্তার। যে ক্ষেত্রে স্বয়ং ইন্সপেকশনের প্রয়োজন। তিনি রোগীর মুখের কথা শুনে ভেতরের খবর জেনে যান। কারণ, তার তো লাভ পেছনে। সামান্য সন্দেহ হলেই, যাও টেস্ট করো। টাকা ঢালো। কারণ, তুমি যেখানেই টাকা ঢালবে, কমিশনের টুপাইস তার পকেটেই পড়বে।

তাই, বলি ভন্ডামি ছাড়ুন। দেশের মানুষের টাকায় পড়েছেন, তাদের মন দিয়ে সেবা করুন। সেটা না পারলে, পুঁজি জমিয়ে মেডিক্যাল ইন্সট্রুমেন্টের ব্যবসায় নেমে পড়ুন। টাকা বা ধান্দা কোনটারই অভাব হবে না।

এখন প্রশ্ন এসেই যায়। তবে, এমন কেন হল? একজন সেবক কেন ‘টাকা লোভী’ ভয়ঙ্কর হয়ে উঠলো। একজন ডাক্তারকে ডাক্তার হতে হলে অনেক চরাই উতরাই পার হতে হয়। সেবার মানসেই তো সে পড়তে আগ্রহী হয়। তাহলে সমস্যা কোথায়? সমস্যা এই সমাজ নিজেই, নাকি শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থা কোন গলদ? একজন চিকিৎসক তো শপথ নিয়ে এ পেশায় আসে। কিসে তাকে এমন ভয়ঙ্কর বানিয়ে তোলে? সেটা বের করাও জরুরি। না করতে পারলে এই ব্যবস্থা টিকবে না। মানুষের ভোগান্তি বাড়বে।

The business is bleak for the restaurants, customer turnout in shopping malls has gone down, school children are afraid of going to schools, and people are worried to move spontaneously; what more we are still waiting to see.

The heinous terrorists have done their job killing 20 hostages at Holey Artisan Bakery on 01 June 2016. The evil forces have been successful to attain their wicked goals. Spreading fear in the minds of countrymen was their prime goal that has already been done. In one-month span, the terror of the incident grabs all from businessmen to housewives to street dwellers. When it comes to the question of life, everyone feels reluctant to move anywhere risking their lives.

The restaurant businesses across the city see poor turnout after the heinous attack in the restaurant. One of the Prothom Alo reports say number of visitors to the restaurants have been dropped to more than 50 percent. The fairytale of customer overflow in the city’s upscale shopping malls turns into nightmare after series of attacks and security concern hoax which was circulated on social networking sites. Now, the shopping malls and markets witness very less number of visitors. The daily’s another report on shopping malls shows nearly 70 percent of drop in customer turnout. Customers are afraid of coming to malls due to the possible security threats.

After a series of security threat hoaxes, the English medium school authorities have shut down schools sine die. The schools went on summer vacation, but it has not been opened as yet. Even no one knows when the educational institutions will open.

The closure of British council is the latest addition to this end. The council authorities have suspended its operations in Bangladesh for an indefinite period citing inadequate security measures.

One thing we need to know; fear is disease. Nothing can be achieved amid fear. Where there is fear, there is easy feat for the devils. We should keep in mind that amid fear nobles crumble, devils grow as terror is their prime business. So, don’t go after fear, but run for courage. Conquering fear may be best solution in this regard. The terrorists have already done that job good enough. The authorities should be very careful as if the drives could not increase the intensity of the fear because fear always serves terrorist’s purpose.
